As a lifelong horsewoman, I'm into natural horse care and natural horsemanship. I do everthing I can to make my horses comfortable, healthy and happy. Below are some of my favorite products that I use.

Tucker Saddles: The first Tucker Saddle that I got was the original Tucker Endurance Saddle which I love! When I got it, it was fitted for Cabaret, an Arabian gelding that has since died. By the time I got Kota, my replacement riding horse, the Tucker Gen II Endurance Saddle was available so I got that saddle to fit Kota...and it fits my newest horse, Mojo. I love this saddle too. The Gel-Cush shock absorbing seat and the design of the saddle is so comfortable for me and my horses. I really like the easy to use adjustable rigging. I also have a Tucker martingale which is very well made. I just can't say enough about how good Tucker Saddles are. If you want a well made comfortable saddle for you and your horse, go to www.tuckersaddles.com and see what saddle would be best for you. By the way, Tucker is a sponsor of my novel Wisdom of the Horse. After I rode in a friends Tucker Saddle I had to approach them about being a sponsor...and thankfully they agreed. It's a relationship that I'm grateful for.

Bitless Bridle: I've used the Dr. Cooks Bitless Bridle for about seven years now and I can't imagine going back to a bit again. To best describe this bridle, I've copied what it says on www.bitlessbridle.com - "The Bitless Bridle provides a method of communication that is safer, more humane, and more effective than the bit. By comparison with traditional bitless bridles, it is happier than a hackamore, better than a bosal and smarter than a sidepull. All these depend on the application of pain or the threat of pain, whereas the Bitless Bridle is painless. With a subtle but simple system of two loops, one over the poll and one over the nose, the Bitless Bridle provides the rider with effective communication through the ability to apply gentle and painless pressure to either the whole of the head (slowing and stopping) or half the head (steering). And where the head goes, the horse follows."

Hoof Boots: As an avid trail rider with barefoot horses I've tried a few things for Kota's feet. I used Keratex to toughen up her feet, but it didn't work well enough to go barefoot on the rugged footing I often ride on. My next step was to try hoof boots. I used Easy Boot Bares from Easy Care Inc. Kathy, my sales rep, was very accomodating in helping me work out the right fit which included needing to switch out Bare cables/buckles for the ones that are on the Easy Boot Epics and I used Comfort Pads when she was newly trimmed. All of the trial and error to see what would work took a couple of frustrating months. Ultimately, the boots worked great EXCEPT that depending on where Kota was at in her foot growth cycle they were often very difficult to take on and off because I get sore very easily. My fingers, wrists and elbows really felt it. Over the course of about a year or so, Kota's feet thankfully expanded and the Easy Boot Bares didn't fit her front feet anymore. I decided that instead of going up to the next size (and not knowing if I would go through the same trial and error for fitting) that I would try Regegade's - these really cool looking hoof boots that Deni Cobb, a new friend of mine used and sold. I've only gone on a week long riding trip using them, but so far I LOVE the Renegade Hoof Boots! My trip was in October 2009 and due to winter weather I haven't hauled out anywhere to need to use boots. I'm assuming that I'll love my Renegade's when I use them regularly. They are so very easy to put on and remove, they fit wonderful and Kota was very comfortable in them. I'm looking forward to using my Renegade's on Mojo too - fortunately they wear the same size!
